Welcome one another, then, just as Christ welcomed you, in order to bring praise to God.

ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Newcastle, Ontario

St. Francis of Assisi – Newcastle

We are a Roman Catholic Parish in the village of Newcastle, Ontario serving the east side of the Municipality of Clarington in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Peterborough. We believe that the message given to us by Jesus Christ over two thousand years ago is still relevant in today’s turbulent world. We are committed to sharing this message and offering help to everyone through prayer, fellowship, and worship.

In an ever changing world we strive to be a welcoming community for all who enter our doors. We joyfully attempt to meet the needs of ALL ages and stages of God’s people as we journey together through the challenges of the 21st century.

The Eucharistic Celebration (The Mass)

During Mass, we gather at the Lord’s table to remember Christ’s Passion, sacrifice on the cross, Resurrection, and Ascension, as He instructed at the Last Supper.

In the Eucharist, Christ is truly present—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity—under the appearance of bread and wine. Through the priest’s words of consecration, the bread and wine become the Body and Blood of Christ.

Jesus said: “Very truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.” (John 6:53-54)
